Carbon Log 2

We did it. We shot the first 2 videos for Carbon. On the night of the 27th, the day before we shot for Carbon, Chinenye & I spent a few hours on a call, tensions high, trying to figure out what one of the videos should be about. We had that planned previously, but we had realised that some people who were meant to show up wouldn’t be able to make it anymore & our plans needed to change.

On the day of the shoot, at around 9:00 am, I was at the mall, and I got a text from the studio, saying we had to move the time of the shoot by about one hour, the equipment we needed for the shoot wasn’t in Abuja yet. Just immediately after, while still trying to process the studio delay, Chinenye got another text that one of our guests had dropped out. She suggested we move the shoot to another day, That was not an option for me. we’d already invested enough physical & emotional resources to ensure we shoot on the 28th. It had to happen.

After heading to the studio to ensure the guests who were already at the studio were comfortable, I headed to Osaro’s house[ He is probably the most brilliant operator I know]. He made a few calls, I made a few calls, and we got some more people that will participate in the video.

it was 1:00 pm, Erons, a friend, picked me up from Osaros house and we went to the studio together. The shoot began, and I am glad we were able to make it all work. I am especially glad that all the guests unanimously said they had fun — This is very important to me as I believe if the people in the video are not having fun, people watching it would not have fun. Our website tagline says “having fun & filming it”. We finished at around 5:00 pm. Two videos, done. Really excited to see the outcome of the videos.

What next? the fun[read: scary] part! At the moment, I am funding the videos from my pocket & that is not sustainable, I need to figure out a way to get sponsorship for future videos, which involves reaching out to brands that might be interested in what we are doing. Another thing we are doing post-shoot is creating a social media presence. We are already at 58 followers on our Instagram page. Finally, we need to edit the footage to make it ready for you to watch.

Overall, It has been a great experience & I am 100% glad I took this leap into hugely unfamiliar territory. Checkout our website, for partnerships/ enquiries about carbon, send a mail to contact@cvrbonyt.com , follow us on instagram & youtube!
